Zoltán Gecsó – IT consultant, cybersecurity expert

Thanks to my parents, I was drawn to the world of IT from a very young age. We were among the first to own a desktop computer and to have internet at home. Due to the specific conditions in Hungary, I could only use it between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., which quickly turned me into a night owl — and I’ve been one ever since.

Despite this, I studied electronics both in high school and at university, and eventually graduated as an electrical engineer. Why not IT? Because I still learned all the IT skills I needed, but I also wanted to understand what lies beneath — what makes computers “work.”

Alongside my main degree, I also completed a teacher training program. At the time, it was just for fun, but I soon realized how incredibly useful the knowledge I gained in psychology, human behavior, and presentation became, no matter where life took me.

MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

I’ve worked through the entire IT sector. I started as a system administrator, building computers, servers, and networks. I programmed telephone systems, and later, as a software developer and business owner, I created a full ERP system for the printing industry with a friend — today, they’d probably say I launched a startup. 😄

I worked for a multinational company, visiting clients — usually when things had already gone seriously wrong. I loved that people were often angry when I arrived, but by the time I left, they were grateful. It felt great to turn a seemingly hopeless situation into something positive and restore trust in our company.

Over time, I realized that good communication, empathy, and understanding others are often more important than flashy technical knowledge. I was amazed at how useful the psychology I had learned during my teacher training turned out to be!

Eventually, my career shifted more toward business analysis and systems architecture. I discovered that what I enjoy most — and do best — is bridging the gap between the super-technical IT world and everyday people.

At the same time, I became increasingly interested in information security. I started educating myself in this field, became an ISO27001 internal auditor, and with the arrival of NIS2, I focused more deeply on cybersecurity. Again, I found that understanding human psychology is crucial — both to comprehend attackers and to support victims. Social engineering — psychological manipulation — is becoming more and more central.

BUT WHO AM I, REALLY?

Someone I barely know once described me on LinkedIn like this:

“🚗 Zoltan Gecso is that geeky type who doesn’t lack in people skills either! We’ve never exchanged private messages, but I feel like we’re on the same wavelength. He always handles even my cheekiest comments with a good sense of humor — and I really appreciate that.”

Yes, I’m a hardcore IT person, through and through. But I love sports, I play in the amateur basketball league in Fejér county, I road cycle from spring to autumn, and I own a hobby car — a MINI — that I take to meets and track days, where I love pushing both the car and myself to the limit.

I’ve been passionate about photography and environmental protection for a long time. I enjoy working with solar systems, heat pump heating, and smart home tech in my spare time. I believe there is a solution to the climate crisis — we “just” need to act now!

At the same time, I don’t believe in self-driving cars, excessive automation, or over-the-top online presence and virtual worlds. I believe in human connection — in meeting, talking, touching, and feeling in person. Life should be lived not just in cyberspace, but in the real world, experiencing things instead of just showcasing them.

I’m that IT guy who, even in a futuristic world, would still be weaving between autonomous electric vehicles in a gas-powered car — and still frying bacon and eggs by hand while everyone else lives virtually. 😊

ALERTINSIGHT.CH

I met the founder of this site completely by chance — we started chatting under one of her posts, and very quickly found common ground. I’ve always wanted to help people who truly need it. And here, I finally feel like I can contribute to a cause where I have both professional and personal experience.

This site is a fantastic initiative — it’s already much needed, and with the rise of AI, it will only become more vital.

I’m proud and truly happy to be part of this mission!

We created this site for those who have been deceived, tricked, or had their trust abused in some way online. In today’s world, having an online presence is critical — but it’s just as important to consider what and how much we share about ourselves and our families.

The core purpose of this platform is to inform, raise awareness, and build a community, so that my message reaches as many people as possible — whether women or men — and that message is:

The online world is not a playground!
